Ubud, Bali, Indonesia 2nd December 2022

Since our last post we have flown from Flores Island to Bali and are staying for 9 days in Ubud, a town inland north of Denpasar.  We've rented a house with a pool so that we can have a break from hotels and have the ability to cook for ourselves.  Paul was particularly delighted to be greeted by Ganesh when we entered the villa.

Ubud is a touristy town but also has a well developed alternative vibe with plenty of vegetarian and vegan restaurants, yoga and meditation, massage and holistic therapies.  We're on the outskirts of the town in a small village which can only be reached by a series of pathways between paddy fields and other villas; consequently there is no traffic or street lights so it's very peaceful.

Paul has been spending his time catching up on his yoga practice which was impossible on the boat and we are both exploring the area on foot and have time to relax, read and swim.

This morning we went to Monkey Forest which is a forest with lots of monkeys!  Plus a couple of temples. We stopped on the way back at one of our favoured vegan restaurants, Alchemy, and you can see what we had for lunch in the photos.  One was an all-day breakfast complete with an "egg" sunny side up, and the other was a spinach and mushroom quiche.
