Darchen, Tibet 6th May 2025

Today we expected to walk 8 kilometres to Qugu Monastery, the first leg of the Kora, but Paul had started a cold the day before and it was decided to take a jeep instead. Arriving at the base of the track up to the Monastery, we discovered the gate was locked but the driver phoned someone to discover under which rock the key was hidden and we were saved a serious climb. From our vantage point at the top of the Monastery we could see people starting their Kora; devout Tibetans prostrating were doing it one body length at a time. Lak told us that doing 13 circuits of the Monastery had equivalent merit as doing the whole Kora. Sue sat and kept count as Lak and Paul walked round.

Sorry to hear you have a cold Paul. Keeping fingers crossed it doesn’t last long. I sure you are enjoying the spiritual aspects of this leg. Love and hugs. Xxxx
