Lhasa to Shigatse, Tibet 2nd May 2025

Published on 10 May 2025 at 05:54

Leaving Lhasa early in the morning, we had a long day driving before arriving in Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet, early evening. We made several stops en route, the first being at a high pass (4280 metres) where Sue had her photo taken with 2 Tibetan mastiffs, one of which slobbered on her new down jacket!

Next we stopped at Yamdrok Lake, one of the three largest lakes in Tibet. Again we were treated to more traditional music and dancing.

After lunch we visited a typical Tibetan family home with a further stop at an artificial lake created for hydroelectric power.

Our final stop of the day was Karola Glacier, the Karola Pass being at 5039 metres elevation.

Stunning photos! The Tibetan Mastiff’s look huge. You both look lovely and snug in your jackets. Love and hugs from both of us.
