Once we got our passports back, we decided to have a couple of days in Nagarkot, a small village up on the rim of the Kathmandu valley. Mainly we wanted a bit of acclimatization at a higher elevation before arriving by plane into Tibet at an elevation of 3650 metres.
Nagarkot sits at over 2200 metres and we certainly felt the altitude when climbing up to our hotel room on the top floor of The Fort Resort. It was situated in a wonderful position with extensive gardens laid out on several levels with many small terraces equipped with tables and chairs. There must have been several hundred flowerpot planted with flowers, small shrubs and trees. Every afternoon we watched the staff with their watering cans doing the rounds; it was a massive task.
Nagarkot is famous for its sunrise and sunset views of the Himalaya and a great view of Everest to the north east. Unfortunately because of the hazy weather, we couldn't see the surrounding hills let alone the mountains behind. We spent our time ambling around trying to acclimatize, and drinking tea in the hotel gardens.

Sounds like a very sensible idea.
The hotel room looks very spacious. We see what you mean by all the pots! It does look very beautiful! Love and hugs from both of us. xx
What a lovely room and beautiful gardens! Glad the visa came through ok, but a rather torturous process!
Enjoy Tibet.
